Morris Industries Pledges Significant Support of STARS Air Ambulance
Field of STARS fundraising event set for Ag in Motion, July 17, 2018.
July 4, 2018 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Morris Industries Ltd. is proud to be named Pioneer Sponsor for the fundraising effort to benefit STARS Air Ambulance that will be held in during Ag in Motion, July 17, 2018, at the event’s show site located outside of Saskatoon.
Morris Industries is partnering with Ag in Motion along with Bayer Crop Science and dozens of other companies to host the fundraising event to benefit STARS Air Ambulance – a vital service to the agriculture industry.
The idea for the fundraiser came to Ben Voss, President and CEO of Morris Industries, and a member of STARS’ volunteer board of directors, when he attended a gala fundraiser in Calgary that had been put on for decades by the petroleum industry. Voss determined the agriculture industry should show its support of the charitable air-ambulance organization in a similar manner. The inaugural Field of STARS event was sold out by June 15, 2018.
A country style gala will take place with well-known Juno and CCMA award-winning recording artist Brett Kissel providing the evening’s entertainment. Live and silent auctions will be held with all proceeds benefiting STARS.
“STARS is a life-saving service that all farmers in the Prairies rely on to be there for them should they ever need it,” said Voss. “Coming from a rural community, I know first-hand how vital STARS is, and that’s why Morris is committed to bringing together our industry to raise money for STARS so it can continue to be our lifeline in a medical emergency. At the event we will be donating the lease of our just released Quantum drill for one year. Our innovation approach doesn’t just stop at award winning agricultural equipment, but encompasses all the facets that help our agricultural communities thrive.”
Rob O’Connor, Ag in Motion Show Director, said, “Field of STARS is a great way to raise money for STARS, so it was an easy decision to come on board as the host sponsor of this event. Our venue becomes ‘home’ to hundreds of agricultural companies and a destination for tens of thousands of farmers each year for Ag in Motion. We’re in a unique position to facilitate partnerships that lead to initiatives like this event.”
The provincial government provides approximately 50 per cent of the funds needed to operate STARS in Saskatchewan. The remaining $10.5 million is raised annually by the STARS Foundation through individual, community and corporate donations as well as fundraisers and the STARS lottery.
