Saskatoon, SK., May 28, 2020 – The new Ag in Motion Discovery Plus digital event is making sure farmers get access to timely 2020 field research through the creation of research-specific areas of the online event.
Even as Ag in Motion is reimagined this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic restricting large groups of farmers from gathering, show organizers are bringing a wealth of knowledge to farmers through a variety of live and on-demand online features. These include sharing farmer-led research, virtual crop tours, results from Glacier FarmMedia Discovery Farm, as well as farm equipment demonstrations, product launches and new agricultural technology.
“It’s important for farmers to get real-world research from the field in a timely manner,” says Blake Weiseth, Discovery Farm Applied Research Lead. “Through Ag in Motion Discovery Plus, we will give farmers an up-close look at new research and trial information so they can see the progressive results and apply this knowledge on their farm.”
Ag in Motion Discovery Plus takes place July 21 – 25, 2020 as a free online event for farmers to get a unique vantage point for virtual agricultural information. Field research is just one component of the online event that will showcase a wide variety of dynamic learning opportunities. Research-based initiatives will include:
Discovery Farm Online
Farmers access important developments on the 640 acres that make up the Saskatoon-area Glacier FarmMedia Discovery Farm through live online presentations, chats and Q&As with Discovery Farm’s research and industry partners. Topics will include drainage, variable rate technology, salinity and more to give western Canadian producers the data they need to improve the productivity, efficiency and sustainability of their operations.
Crop Plots
The Ag in Motion Discovery Plus Crop Plots area will bring farmers the latest developments from the field through virtual plot walk-throughs, time-lapse photography, new product launches and informative interviews with industry partners like Bayer, Gowan, Alpine, SeCan, SeedNet and more.
Living Labs
New for 2020, Ag in Motion Discovery Plus is reimagining what collaboration can mean among farm groups, academics, researchers and industry partners across Western Canada. With Living Labs, geographic distances shrink, and information is made available from prairie-wide farmer-led research in one online platform.
“Access to the latest research on the ground is what farmers need as they navigate new opportunities and developments in Canadian agriculture,” says Rob O’Connor, Ag in Motion Show Director. “Ag in Motion Discovery Plus gives us an amazing platform to offer the leading-edge experiences farmers have come to expect from us, while also creating new ways to get important knowledge into the hands of farmers.”
Ag in Motion Discovery Plus is a free online event for farmers featuring new ag technology developments, equipment demonstrations, crop tours and high-profile keynote speakers. Pre-registration is now available at aginmotion.ca
