Climate and storage considerations explored at upcoming Ag in Motion digital event

Oct 7, 2021 | News

Saskatoon, SK., October 7, 2021 – With harvest wrapping up after an extremely dry prairie season, the Ag in Motion™ digital event day speakers will share information on climate and storage implications, plus a discussion on mental health for farm families.

The October 20 Ag in Motion digital event day will feature keynote speakers Digvir Jayas, a globally-recognized expert in stored grain ecosystems, and Lauren Van Ewyk of Wellspring Counselling Services who is an agricultural mental health advocate.

“We know this has been a tough year for many farmers and ranchers,” says Rob O’Connor, Ag in Motion Show Director. “With most of harvest in the bin, we wanted to look forward and discuss how a changing climate can affect the risk of grain spoilage, and given the year we’ve had, we also felt that information on resilience strategies would be helpful for this challenging year.”

In addition to these speakers, Chad Koscielny, Corteva Agriscience™ North American Canola Breeding Lead, will discuss new clubroot resistant sources in a live roundtable discussion, plus MarketsFarm expert Bruce Burnett will give a market update to inform the upcoming winter planning months.

The October 20 Ag in Motion digital event is the fifth in a series of six digital events planned for 2021. Registration for a digital pass is free and gives farmers all-year access to current and past sessions until December 31, 2021.

“With the good weather we’ve been having, we know farmers and ranchers are still out in the field,” explains O’Connor, “so we’ve made it easy to watch presentations on a device through the event app. Farmers can also come back to the digital event platform to view the information later when their schedule allows.”

O’Connor notes that while four digital events have passed since March 2021, the online platform makes those presentations available as on-demand content. He points out that there are many practical and actionable tips and tools on various topics like testing the quality of livestock water, soybean and pulse agronomy updates, wheat research, plus new products and services available for the farm. If farmers haven’t yet registered, there’s still time to catch upcoming digital event days and review information that has already been shared.
