Cultivating Connections

The Cultivating Connections Brunch, sponsored by Farm Credit Canada, at Ag in Motion™ is a networking event for young farmers and ag professionals, helping them form connections in the industry with mentors and ag leaders.

“We wanted to create an opportunity for youth to connect with leaders in the agriculture industry and give our next generation the chance to participate in targeted networking and learn from experienced professionals,” says Cultivating Connections Brunch Committee Chair, Danielle Wildfong. No experience in the ag industry? No problem, says Wildfong: “Any young professional can attend to learn more about the incredible opportunities to grow within the ag industry.”

“Building strong relationships is more important than ever to be successful.  The volume of information makes it impossible for any one person to know everything – with a strong network you can get the advice you need from someone you trust,” says Darren Howden, Senior Vice President, Operations, FCC.

The brunch will include a pancake breakfast, and there will be speakers as well as a series of table talks. Table talks are informative and intimate group discussions about a particular topic.

And there will be no shortage of topics, with something different for everyone. “The themes we will cover at each table are extensive, with representation from entrepreneurial ventures to farm management to large organizations,” says Wildfong.

The brunch is not just an opportunity for the young attendees. “Mentorship is a two-way street,” explains Wildfong. “Experienced professionals can learn a tremendous amount from our youth as well. Alongside learning and networking, participating at events like the Cultivating Connections Brunch gives employers an edge in their talent acquisition initiatives. We’re giving organizations access to meet talented and driven young professionals.”

The Cultivating Connections Brunch is sponsored by Farm Credit Canada. It takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18 at the Special Events Tent at Ag in Motion. Spaces are limited – Please visit aginmotion.ca to RSVP.
