Industry updates and knowledge-sharing essential part of Ag in Motion Discovery Plus

Saskatoon, SK., June 18, 2020 – Western Canadian producers looking for up-to-date information on the beef industry, including research, markets, traceability and management, will find it at the Ag in Motion Discovery Plus online event this summer

Ag in Motion Discovery Plus is a new digital event delivering interactive agriculture content from the field on July 21 through 25, 2020. One focus of the interactive event is Livestock Central, an area to share information specific to livestock producers from experts, industry, organizations and exhibitors.

One highlight we’d definitely recommend producers attend is the Canadian Cattlemen panel discussion on Thursday, July 23 at 7 p.m. with industry experts from across the supply chain speaking about building resiliency in our industry, says Lisa Guenther, Editor of Glacier FarmMedia’s Canadian Cattlemen. Even though we are in uncertain times, we want to give beef producers the insights they need to look to the future with confidence.”

The Canadian Cattlemen panel discussion will focus on building resiliency throughout the beef industry, and includes representatives from different areas of the supply chain including Bob Lowe, Canadian Cattlemen’s Association president and a feedlot operator from Alberta; Maryjo Tait, co-owner of Celtic Ridge Farm and a cow-calf producer from Ontario; and Marcel Blais, president and owner of Chop Steakhouse. Canadian Cattlemen magazine and the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association will co-host the panel.

Guenther says that the advantage of holding an online panel discussion like this is that it connects experts and producers from across the country and gives producers a way to get this important information without leaving the farm. The event is free for registered Ag in Motion Discover Plus attendees.

Beef producers will find many additional free sessions in Livestock Central on topics such as genetics, backgrounding calves, livestock equipment, funding for water projects, farm stewardship, forage and pasture management, plus an update on the Canadian Agricultural Partnership program and more. There will also be opportunities for producers to ask questions and virtually network with others in the beef industry at all the sessions.

Attendees at Ag in Motion Discovery Plus can also attend a screening of the award-winning documentary film Guardians of the Grasslands that explores the state of the Great Plains grasslands and the role that cattle play in its survival. This Canadian documentary interviews conservationists and ranchers and has received accolades for its passionate look at this iconic landscape and our relationship with the land and our food.

Ag in Motion Discovery Plus takes place July 21 – 25, 2020 as a free online event for farmers to get a unique vantage point on current agricultural information. Pre-registration for Ag in Motion Discovery Plus is available now at aginmotion.ca with early registrants getting 40% off a one- or two-year subscription to The Western Producer.
