The Western Producer announces a new documentary series, Welcome to the Farm Show, that highlights Canadian agriculture in a new way.
The documentary series celebrates the hard work, passion and dedication of the people that make Canadian outdoor farm events possible.
The Western Producer has long been trusted to tell the stories of farm families and rural communities. Season one of the documentary series will air over several months, with the first episode launching on November 27, 2024, followed by two more episodes in January and February 2025.
“Pulling off a farm show this big requires thousands of people hours, lots of hard work, creative solutions and tons of cooperation to create an ultimate experience for agriculture producers in the field,” says Rob O’Connor, Show Director and Business Development Lead for Glacier FarmMedia. “This is where visitors discover all that’s great about Canadian agriculture, and we’re excited to bring this rare look inside farm shows to audiences.”
O’Connor has been Show Director of Ag in Motion for 10 years since its inception in 2015. The farm show is Western Canada’s largest outdoor farm show, attracting over 30,000 visitors annually from across Canada and around the world.
Every year, for three days in July in Langham, Saskatchewan, a new village springs to life. It’s made up of 100+ acres of exhibits, field demonstrations, large farm equipment, livestock, special events and more.
The first episode of Welcome to the Farm Show, “Working Cattle”, features livestock audiences, exhibitors, reporters and organizers for this Saskatchewan “pop-up city” where animals and humans share the neighbourhood. In this episode, audiences get an inside look at some of the planning challenges, animals and personalities that bring innovative ideas to the western Canadian livestock space.
